MiDA inaugurates MiDA/LAP COORDINATION COMMITTEE
Sunday, 19 Oct 2008 . The Millenium Development Authority has inaugurated the MiDA/LAP COORDINATION COMMITTEE UNDER THE LAND TENURE FACILITATION ACTIVITY. The programme took place on Tuesday September 28th, 2008 in MiDA’s head office in Accra. The objective of the committee is for MiDA to communicate issues and obtain advice on how to handle legal and policy issues from the relevant Ministry Officials under the Land Administration Project (LAP). The CEO of MiDA stated that “the Nature of the Committee is advisory in nature; and its formation is predicated on information-sharing strategy of MiDA. MiDA retains primary responsibility for the Land Tenure Facilitation Project and for its implementation.”The Functions and Composition of the Committee are as follows: Functions: -Exchange information and obtain advice on the effective implementation of the agreed IEA -Obtain advice from LAP on registering various Subsidiary Interests in land, particularly the Usufructuary Interest, as well as Agricultural Tenancies such as the Abunu and Abusa Tenurial Arrangements; -Obtain advice on the roles of MiDA and LAP in setting up of Land Title Registries in MiDA’s Pilot Areas, as this requires the passing of Legislative Instruments; -Obtain advice on handling any problems that may be encountered during the Titling Activity at AES; and -Deal with any other issues that will lead to the efficient implementation of the land facilitation activity under the MiDA program Composition: -Rep. of Land Administration Project (MLFM); -Lands Commission (LC); -Survey Department (SD); -Land Title Registry (LTR); -Office of Administration of Stool Lands (OASL); -Rep. of Ministry of Women and Children Affairs; -A Representative of Non Governmental Organization (NGO); and -A Social Specialist The following shall be Observers: -A Representative of the Ascertainment of Customary Law Project; and -the Integrated Legal Advisor of the National House of Chiefs. |
