Dr. DeSOUZA APPOINTED TO MiDA BOARD

The Millennium Development Authority, MiDA, has announced the appointment of Dr. Samuel Kobina DeSouza to its Board.

Dr. DeSouza will serve on the MiDA Board as the Representative of Private Enterprise Federation, thus replaces Dr. Prosper Adabla who passed away in July 2015.

Dr. DeSouza is presently the Director for Regional Risk Management and Power at Newmont Ghana Gold Limited. He has a rich background with over 20 years work experience in the United States and has worked in various organizations including Florida Power & Light Company, the third-largest electric utility in the United States.

He holds a BSc in Mathematics from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), MSc in Industrial Engineering, MSc in Urban & Environmental Studies both from Rensselear Polytechnic Institute, Troy, New York and an Executive MBA from Daniels School of Business, University of Denver. He was awarded a Doctorate in Business Administration by Kennedy Western University in the year 2004.

His appointment to the Board took effect after he was sworn-in at the Flagstaff House in Accra, on Monday September 19, 2016. The swearing in was conducted by Hon. Akwasi Opong-Fosu (Minister of State at the Presidency in Charge of Development Authorities) on behalf of the President of Ghana, H.E. John Mahama.

Present at the swearing in ceremony were Mr. Henry M. Wood – Ag. Chief Director Office of the President, Prof. Samuel Sefa-Dedeh - Chairman of the MiDA Board, Ing. Owura K. Sarfo – MiDA CEO, Pamela Djamson-Tettey – Director, Communications and Outreach, MiDA and Naa Adueley Ashong – Legal Officer at MiDA.

As member, Dr. DeSouza will be one of 11 members on the MiDA Board with voting rights.
