Summary of the Transportation Project and related Project Activities


The Transportation Project is designed to reduce the transportation costs affecting agricultural commerce at sub-regional and regional levels in Ghana, in support of the Agricultural Project. Funds from the Compact will support the following Project Activities:


  • Upgrades to Sections of N1 Highway
  • To reduce the bottleneck in accessing the International Airport and the Port of Tema and to support an expansion of Ghana’s export-directed horticulture base beyond current production, by upgrading of 14 km of the National
  • Improvements of Trunk Roads

    To facilitate the growth of agriculture and access to social services by rehabilitating or constructing up to two hundred and thirty (230) kilometers of trunk roads in the Afram Basin Area..

  • Improvements of Lake Volta Ferry Services

     To facilitate the growth of agriculture in the Afram Basin Zone by improving the ferry services of Volta Lake Transport Company (“VLTC”) that connect Adawso on the southern shore of Ekye Amanffrom on the northern shore.The Millennium Development Authority today handed over 10 Pick-up vehicles to the Ghana Statistical Service (GSS). The 10 Vehicles are to supplement some 15 vehicles which the Service is providing to support the work of MiDA under the Implementing Entity Agreement signed recently with the GSS. MiDA is expected to enhance the capacity of GSS is the collection of vital data in the MCA Ghana Intervention Zones.
